I grew up near Chicago, IL and have always rode bikes for both fun and transportation, but never gave racing a real chance until college. At the time, I was working at a bike shop when a co-worker pushed me to try cyclocross. The sport felt totally natural and I was good at it immediately, so it stuck. The following summer I tried road racing where I enjoyed a similar experience. That was about 5 years ago now and there’s been no question about what I’ve wanted to do since.
After finishing my degree in Economics at DePaul University in Chicago, my girlfriend and I promptly moved to Asheville, North Carolina in search of mild winters, roads that go up, and more proximity to the outdoors. Plenty of things peek my interest apart from cycling, usually those include good espresso, the color grey, satire, and Indian food...thankfully Asheville has all of the above.
